Climb like a Girl Moab!

We will spend two full days climbing in the sun and on the beautiful sandstone of the Moab, UT area.

Climb like a girl, Moab will focus on much different climbing techniques than many of you may have experienced, the techniques used for crack climbing. The nature of the rock you climb predicates which techniques you need to use, the more techniques you know the more proficient you will become as a climber.  Beyond techniques my goals are always to continue to educate participants on all areas of climbing, to increase knowledge and competency, there by opening more doors for personal experience.

Participants will need to provide their own transportation to Moab arriving Friday evening. I will provide contacts for carpooling from ABQ. For those that arrive in time (this is an optional event) we’d meet for dinner, drink, conversation at a local spot, Moab Brewery, Friday evening at 7:30pm. Many people may arrive later with the length of the drive (5 ½ - 6 hours from ABQ). This is fine, the event really begins Saturday morning at 8:00am.

The first day of climbing we often go to a great place called the Ice Cream Parlor, which provides many options for all ability levels, at the end of a full day participants will be given an option for personal time or to meet the group for dinner. The following morning we’ll start out at the same time heading to a different area, one of two options exist: to go directly to Potash Road or to practice movement techniques on boulders, close to the ground, learning basic spotting techniques and bouldering techniques, followed by and afternoon trip to Potash Road for a few more fun pitches of climbing to see if we can’t bring it all together. Once again participants can choose to hit the road at the end of the day and head home, to stay and enjoy dinner out with the group, even better if you bike or hike you can plan a long weekend and get some more adventuring in! Moab is a gorgeous spot for all of these activities. My good friend Carl Dec owns Red River Adventures www.redriveradventures.com they are also available to take people rafting or kayaking.

Participants can choose if they’d prefer to stay in a hotel/motel in Moab or car camp. What ever is most convenient and sounds the most desirable. In the past most participants have chosen to keep it simple and stay in a motel, there is a locally owned business, really nice people, and highly recommended by my friend (Carl Dec) who runs Red River Adventures. Moab Adventure Inn. http://www.adventureinnmoab.com/ Phone is 435-259-6122; There are a number of other nice motels in Moab http://www.discovermoab.com/hotels.htm

If you prefer to camp I can make recommendations for you.

Detailed itineraries, directions, lists of gear etc will be provided to those who register for the event. The cost is $175/day per person, this does not include lodging, food or transportation, each participant will be responsible for covering those aspects separately. I prefer to keep the group size small both to maintain a quality experience for the participants and to reduce the impact to any given area. It can be overwhelming/annoying to other climbers to have a huge group take over a climbing area. The event will be limited to eight participants and will require a minimum of four. As per my other clinics you can e-mail me a request to reserve a spot.

To reserve a spot I will need a 50% deposit that will be kept in the event of a last minute cancellation unless I can fill your spot.

Water is fed down the sides of the Uncompahgre Gorge to freeze and generate hundreds of different ice flows. Many climbs can be top roped, easily accessed via trail and provide incredible teaching and learning terrain, from the most moderate to the most extreme. There is something to suit everyone. The "icing" on the cake, you get to go back to a hotel room, take a hot shower, or soak in the hot springs and have dinner out then do it all again!
